SCREEN PRINTING WORKSHOP - 5th APRIL 2025

CREATE YOUR OWN SCREEN PRINTED TEXTILES

LOCATION: Stephanie Sloan Print Studio, Arklow, Y14YR63

DATE: Saturday April 5

TIME: 10am - 4.30pm (1 day workshop)

Max 3 participants

TUTOR: Stephanie Sloan (B.Des. NCAD, MA RCA)

1 day workshop covering all you need to know to start creating your own textile prints. We will use the emulsion coated screen technique and I will teach you each stage of the process from design layouts and fundamentals of repeat patterns to the techniques of applying your unique design to a screen. The afternoon will be spent printing and by the end of the day you will have your own printed tea towels and tote bags. This a fun, fast paced workshop for both those new to screen print and those with some experience looking to develop knowledge of emulsion coated screen technique.

TECHNIQUES COVERED:
Repeat pattern making for textiles. Transferring image onto transparency film. Emulsion coating screen and exposing. Screen printing onto textiles.

Max of only 3 participants so there is lots of capacity to focus on individual learning and support to work through individual ideas.

Participants will be guided through initial design making (inspiration materials provided). Those with imagery already created are encouraged to bring this along and will be fully supported in developing this for print.

We will work on a 1 colour print. Focus will be on the process of design and technique of screen print using emulsion coated screens.

Please bring packed lunch. Tea/coffee & biscuits provided.

Wear old clothing and shoes. Aprons provided.

MATERIALS PROVIDED: Cotton tote bags and cotton teatowels provided for print application. Please bring any other material you would like to try printing onto (tshirts, fabric  - this must be made of natural fibres ie: cotton, linen) and pale in colour.
